Mango Mastani

Mango mastani is a popular dish from Pune. It also brings back so many memories from my period in pune, India. The freshly squeezed mosambi (Sweet lime) juice, Piping hot dal makhani, Pillow soft aloo parathas. This shake is also very close to me.

Summer is no fun without mangoes. This is definitely pure pleasure for mango lovers. What is not to love? This has layers of mango flavor. Mango pulp, mango chunks, mango ice cream all mixed up together. Yummm !!

This is a perfect party or gathering dessert recipe. You can make the smoothie and prep mango chunks ahead of time and refrigerate. Arrange when in time to serve.

Preparation time - 10 mins

Serves - 2 to 4

Ingredients:

TO blend

  • Mango chunks / Mango pulp - 2 cups

  • Milk - 2 cups

  • Vanilla / Mango ice cream - 2 scoops

To Arrange

  • Mango chunks

  • Blended Mix

  • Mango / Vanilla ice cream

  • Crushed nuts | Slivered almonds and pistachios Optional.

Directions

Start by prepping mango. Peel and deseed, then separate mango flesh from the skin.

Extract 2 cups of mango chunks or mango pulp. Fresh mangoes in season are best for this recipe.

Now blend the mango chunks with a cup or 2 of milk and 2 scoops of ice cream. Adjust the thickness by adding or reducing the milk quantity. If you are not feeling overly guilty, adding half and half is not a bad option. Although I like sticking to the milk. I am using whole milk here.

Before serving , Start by layering with mango chunks, then blended smoothie, then a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Finish off by topping with crushed nuts like pistachios or slivered almonds.

Enjoy and happy cooking.
