Bhel Puri (Puffed Rice salad)

I just love to eat puffed rice by itself. I still remember when i was little i used to wait for the bhel seller who comes every now and then in his cycle and I would clearly differentiate his bell from others :) I love it in Sweets, crackers, cereals no matter where :P

Being chaat lovers we love this during late night movie hours, on a lazy weekend nights, also with the little helper at home puffed rice is always stocked up for her munching's :)

Sev (Chickpea flour vermicilli) - 1/2 cup

Roasted Peanuts - 1/2 cup

Chopped Raw mango - 1/4 cup

Chopped onion - 1/4 cup

Direction

:

Have all the veggies washed and chopped. Boil, peel and chop potatoes. Roast peanuts with little oil until they turn golden.

For sweet chutney and mint chutney mix all ingredients and blend it in a mixer separately.

Once everything is prepared Mix everything but sev in a larger mixing bowl and give it a whip. Adjust sweetness and hotness based on personal preference. Finally top it with sev and freshly chopped coriander leaves.

Note

:

  1. Have all ingredients ready and mix just before serving, else it becomes soggy
  2. The chutney ingredients amount can be easily multiplied and can be refrigerated for future use and other chaat items.
  3. If you don't have Tamarind paste, extract thick tamarind pulp and boil until it thickens then add jaggery powder and spice powder to it.
  4. You can always add sprouted lentils to it

Enjoy and happy cha(a)ting :)
